Pretty cool. Do you know all these? ‘O’ and ‘U’ are the only ones I don’t recognize. By Maicon Costa.

Worthwhile Crochet Discovered!

+ Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

I just stumbled upon Croshame, and laughed my head off. Great little crocheted grotesqueties both cute and disturbing. Above, the Exorcist playset. Below, Sid & Nancy. Check out the site for more great stuff!

Simulated Bionic Symbiosis

+ Monday, November 29th, 2010

I watched a DVR’d marathon of Sym-Bionic Titan over Turkey Week, and my socks were pretty much blown off. Anything Genndy Tartakovsky directs seems to be pure gold. As a lover of wordsmithery and compound blending, I loved it from the start. I mean, “Sym-Bionic”? YES! One word, three meanings. (Also, very Sectaurs.)

The overall story is about a trio of exiled aliens (A Princess, a Warrior and a Robot) hiding out on Earth as their homeworld goes to hell. It’s all about keeping the princess safe. Additionally, they can each generate their own ‘sim’ robots that are tough enough themselves, but can also combine DEVASTATOR STYLE to form the TITAN. (Unfortunately, doing so brings unwanted offworld attention, but so as not to spoil, I’ll leave it at that.) There’s a lot of great high school / relationship drama to be had as well with everyone trying to fit in inconspicuously under increasing boredom.

While there is an overarching storyline, the episodes do stand up on their own and the series can be pretty much picked up on at any time without too much confusion. A lot of familiar voices are present. Tara Strong (who, along with Wendee Lee, voices almost every female character ever.) Brian Posehn naturally plays the lead robot with little effort or change in his natural speaking voice. I heard John DiMaggio (Bender, Wakka, Jake the Dog) in there a lot as well.

Along with the writing and overall story arch, the design and directing pretty much make the show, as to be expected from a G.T. Joint. (I would LOVE a book of just the tons and tons of awesome character designs.) Can’t wait for the season finale next week and eventual season two. Highly, highly recommended!

New Bizcards are Here!

+ Friday, November 26th, 2010

Early Christmas! The new ‘cards are in! Two different versions, both double-sided. One simple and slick with tons of example logos on the back, for primary use. The other, more rare, cosmic themed and more out there for cool kids not offended by wheatfields or a nipple. (But will anyone notice her Ice Planet Ring sash? Doubtful.)

Anyway, cool, these are in. One more thing to check off the list. Send a S.A.S.E., run into me in the analog world (good luck,) or hire Ice Planet if you want one…

R2-DHOLY SHIT

+ Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Mondo, you BASTARDS! Another absolutely incredible poster release, from Kevin Tong. Goes on sale at a random time on Friday. $50. Gonna have to pass, spent way too much money upgrading multiple hard drives this week. Man, that thing is beyond beautiful, though.
